Helfried Hermann was born in Austria in 1976. He graduated in Journalism and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. His passion for ancient cultures made Greece one of his favourite places for some long-term visits over several years. But Greece has more to offer than just antiquity. Attracted by the beauty of the Greek Waters the author decided to follow the pirate`s path and sail the always sunny Greek waters in a beautiful sturdy Westerly 25 for some years. Inspired by the many pirate stories which are told on the Greek Islands he decided to take a long dive into several libraries to write about the history of the PIRATES OF GREECE
